Itinerary
On arrival at the Colombo Bandaranayake International Airport, you will be driven to the city of Negombo to your homestay, situated along the coasts, 7km from the airport. Do a city tour covering Pristine Golden Beach, Dutch Fort House Prison, Negombo Lagoon, Fishermen’s Huts, Hamilton Canal, Neoclassical St. Mary’s Church, Vivid Religious Paintings, etc.
Overnight: Negombo
Travel back in time as you explore the ancient city of Anuradhapura. Meander amongst the age-old dagobas (brick stupas) which rival only the pyramids of Giza in size amongst the structures of old, the crumbling monastic buildings, and the vast Pokunas (pools). Hidden away in the dense jungle, this 4th-century religious and political capital persevered for 1300 years before it was abandoned. Today, this sprawling city still serves as a religious centre and has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After an eventful day, turn in to your homestay for your overnight stay in Anuradhapura.
Overnight: Anuradhapura
Transfer to Trincomalee. In the afternoon, you will visit the little coastal village – Kuchchaveli. A breathtaking beach destination, Kuchchaveli is a vision of paradise; its secluded beach affords captivating sunsets and wonderful strolls along the clear, soft sand. Dip your toes in the cool water as you gaze upon the vast expanse of turquoise waters – offering an air of serenity and tranquility for a relaxing holiday.
Overnight: Trincomalee
You can use this day for leisure and relax at the beach or explore the surroundings.
The port city of Trincomalee has been a focal point of trade and a place of Hindu pilgrimage dating back to 400 B.C. Enter the Fort Frederick, which hosts many popular tourist destinations. This fort, built by the Portuguese in 1623, was subsequently used by the Dutch and British as a naval base. Entering via the fort, behold the famed Koneswaram Kovil (temple) built atop the Swami rock by a cliff where pilgrims from across the world gather to pay homage to the Hindu God, Lord Shiva. Visit the popular lover’s leap, which hosts a monument that speaks of perhaps a more tragic than a romantic tale of the daughter of a Dutch General who leaped into the ocean to her death.
Overnight: Trincomalee
You’ll never be able to get enough of the infamous beaches of Sri Lanka – least of all Arugam Bay, which you will depart for after breakfast. Kick back, relax and have a drink in the spectacular surroundings.
Overnight: Whiskey Point
Hit the beach post breakfast to find the perfect surfing conditions at the 4th best windsurfing location in Southeast Asia and the 10th-best location in the world. What better way to kick start your day than with the roar of the waves and the wind in your hair? 11 Days Tourfrom Canada22. November 2018I had gone to Sri Lanka on my own and i admit that i was not aware i was going to be solo for the duration of the trip, i had thought that i was booking within a tour. But i had a wonderful time with my guide and owner of EuroLanka, Yusuf and our driver Thissa. they got to know me and what i wanted to see within the country and made sure i had the best experience within the short 12 days i was there. They had even changed the itinerary and added different experiences on just to suit my preferences. The country itself was absolutely beautiful, i had the true local experience from visiting small fishing towns to eating dinner with local families. I had a beautiful trip and i would recommend this tour for anyone who wants to experience the authentic Sri Lanka.
